Hamilton County Septic System Inspections

Hamilton County Health has begun the process of inspecting residential septic systems in Camp Dennison. Some systems have already been inspected and some have gotten a postcard type notification that their inspection is coming in 30 to 60 days. This is what the back of the card says exactly.

__________________________

Our records indicate that the sewage treatment system (STS) located at the address listed on the opposite side of this notice is coming due for routine inspection by Hamilton County Public Health (HCPH) within the next 30-60 days.

Please prepare for our visit by ensuring any necessary routine preventative maintenance and service is preformed prior to our visit (ex - pumping the system). And all components are functioning properly and are easily accessible to our inspector (obstructions/vegetation removed so all lids can be removed safely and efficiently).

The wastewater from your home discharges into a drywell system or a similarly defined component. These types of systems/components are specifically prohibited from continued use under ORC 3718.023 (B) and OAC 3701-29-06 (E) (5). Hamilton County Public Health (HCPH) is currently not actively pursing the replacement of such systems/components provided they appear to be operating, monitored, and maintained properly. In addition, no additional flows (fixtures/bedrooms), change of use, or significant changes to the structure served by these types of systems/ components are to be proposed. If such changes are proposed to the home/structure served by these prohibited types of systems/components, the drywell must be eliminated under permits issued by HCPH. If not, the owner of any of these systems/components will be required to eliminate the drywell under permits issued by HCPH by December 31, 2045.
